Because the signs are marked on both sides, the hiking trail can be used in both directions (to Cologne and to Nettersheim).

Slowly but surely the hiking trail along the Roman canal approaches the city of Cologne. At first there are deciduous and evergreen woods to hike through, then lakes that invite you to a refreshing break, and further to buildings that depict culturally historical treasures. In between unexpected wonderful views open themselves up. Of course the trail now becomes busier. But it is surprising how many green islands link the various urban districts. The Roman canal has reached the end of its journey in Cologne. Just like the present- day hiking trail of the same name.
