Because the signs are marked on both sides, the hiking trail can be used in both directions (to Cologne and to Nettersheim).

This stage can be described as the “view with an insight”. The Roman Canal Hiking Trail leads through a variety of the typical landscape. What is so special is the constant change from gentle hill slopes, to quiet stream beds, wonderful woods and meadows and fields surrounded by hedges offering a unique nature adventure. There are many well-kept parts of the canal on this stage such as the Roman water chamber “Klausbrunnen”, the catchment basin in Eiserfey, the Aqueduct bridge in Vussem and countless further exposed remains that are wonderful to look at.
